Mass Effect 3 Invasion trailer suspiciously unofficial

This new Mass Effect 3 trailer hasn't appeared through the usual official channels, and arrives right on top of news that a fake trailer has been produced from a leaked build of the game - watch it at your own peril, as you may be partially spoiling the ending cinematic.

The trailer isn't on BioWare's official YouTube channel, instead hosted by several fan accounts and spreading quickly. The trailer's editing seems a litte strange, showing only a handful of the cast at the end of a sequence which looks just like a cinematic. Most concerningly, over the weekend Twitter was alight with rumours that a fake trailer was circulating showing the game's ending cinematic.

VentureBeat reports the shooter RPG hybrid has hit Torrent sites, suggesting a credible fan-edit origin for the video.

Mass Effect 3 is due on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on march 6 in the US, March 8 in Australia and March 9 in Europe.
