Naughty Dog summarizes The Last of Us demo, new screens

Naught Dog has posted extra details for The Last of Us along with a few new screenshots of the game over on the US PS Blog.

It's basically a summary of the game's demo shown to Game Informer, a lot of which was shown in the debut trailer, but it's well worth the read.

According to the firm, the gameplay basically starts once Joel and Ellie's truck crashes after trying to escape an attack by survivors, leading to an intense brawl between Joel and some hostiles.

Naughty Dog community strategist Arne Meyer said the demo deliberately showed an "overview of the unique AI for The Last of Us," so those viewing the debut video as well as the gameplay demo could note "how the balance of power between weapons creates an atmosphere of extreme tension in combat." The same goes for exploring the environment and scavenging, as well as the relationship between Joel and Ellie – both in-combat and out of combat.

Meyer goes on to recount Joel's gunfight, Ellie hitting a hostile with a brick, and the "several minutes of cat and mouse" where the duo work to "take out each of the survivors one-by-one until none remain."

The rest of the demonstration touches upon the exploration of an abandoned building and the banter between Joel and Ellie.

You can read the full summarization through the link.

There's also some concept art pulled from AGB posted in the gallery below.

The Last of Us is expected to launch either by the end of this year or early 2013 for PS3.
