New screens, art, and details appear for Devil May Cry

Some screenshots and a couple bits of artwork for Ninja Theory’s Devil May Cry have been released by Capcom, and the firm has also dropped a few details regarding Dante's past.

According to a post on Capcom Unity, in the game, Dante is a young man who "has no respect for authority or indeed society in general," which stems from knowing he is not human, yet nothing like the demons which have "tormented him throughout his life."

He feels every bit the outcast, and having grown up in various "institutions, orphanages, youth correction facilities and foster homes" operated by demons where his deep hatred of demons and authority was bred, he decides to side with the "little guy" and other victims of an unfair society.

In the game, Dante's Rebellion sword is given to him by his father Sparda so he can better protect himself against the demons which hunt him. It's still unknown how he came to be in possession of his pistols Ebony and Ivory - or where they came from - but each, like his sword, were crafted a long time ago and have "sent innumerable demons to their doom."

It all sounds very cool, and you can read the entire blog post through the link and check out the screens and artwork below.

The reboot of the series is slated for release on PS3 and Xbox 360 sometime this year.
