EA GDC event to include Guggenheim, Harrison speeches

EA has updated its Game Changers GDC event countdown page, adding two unusual speakers to its schedule.

The event countdown page now reveals EA will be joined by director and producer Davis Guggenheim, a key creative behind 24, Deadwood, Alias, ER and NYPD Blue, and an Academy Award winner for documentary An Inconvenient Truth.

Former photojournalist and charity: water founder Scott Harrison will also be on board.

EA has given no clues as to what these two might be speaking about, but their combined oeuvre and the name of the event suggests the publisher may be making a push for socially responsible gaming, a growing movement championed by Al Gore, among others.

"I can confirm that we will have a brand new announcement from one of EA's most beloved franchises," an EA representative told Kotaku when pressed for details.

SimCity developer Maxis is expected to make an announcement at the event, which will be livestreamed at 6:00PM PST/2:00AM GMT, March 6.
