Medal of Honor: Warfighter releasing in October

The latest issue of OXM has confirmed that the next Medal of Honor game is Warfighter, that it will ship this October and will have Danger Close-developer multiplayer.

The game is being developed by Danger Close, as was the 2010 reboot, and will use DICE's Frostbite 2.0 engine.

DICE, however, will not develop multiplayer as it did in the first game: it's being done in-house.

Warfighter will yet again follow the stories of Tier 1 operatives, although it's unclear at the moment whether or not the setting will be Afghanistan.

According to Game Informer, OXM has screens, more details and interviews. Warfighter will be shown at a GDC event on Tuesday, March 6 from 8.00pm PST (4.00am GMT).

Warfighter follows the great success of Medal of Honor's revamp. Despite only achieving Metacritic averages of 72% on PC, 74% on 360 and 75% on PS3, the title sold more than 5 million units.

Danger Close confirmed it was working on a second title in February last year.

The Medal of Honor website has acknowledged the reveal by releasing one piece of key art, viewable below, and promising more details to come.
