Wishbringer designer Brian Moriarty is among a number of new speakers announced for GDC 2012.

Moriarty will give a speech called Lehr und Kunst mit Perlenspiel, in whiuch he will discuss a “sinister” method used for teaching about development, in which he tasks players with producing five games in just seven weeks.

Former IGDA executive director Jason Della Rocca will also examine one method of teaching games development, this time examining an eight week course at Concordia University in Montreal which threw indie developers and staff together to create prototypes. The sessions is called Incubating Indie Games at University and will argue for the importance of tying the development and academic worlds together.

Finally, a group of panelists inclusing Cow Clicker designer, Ian Bogost, Michael Mateas of UC Santa Cruz, Jesse Schell, WallFour’s Adam Russell and Jesper Juul of NYU will participate in a rant session on the topic of games education.

GDC 2012 runs March 5 to March 9, and is fronting an increasingly crowded line up.
