Report: Mind Candy IPO considered for within “next few years’

Mind Candy is considering to go public within the “next few years,” according to a Reuters report.

The news comes as the Moshi Monsters creator is about to consider making an arrival on US soil in the future.

“We can’t necessarily stay private forever,” said CEO Michael Acton-Smith in an interview. “We have a lot of shareholders and we don’t want to sell. Going public at some point is the smartest way forward.”

Acton-Smith added it was inspired to make a move by companies such as Zynga and Pandora going public, but insisted any move wouldn’t happen for the next few years.

“To build a business with global scale that can go public, we absolutely have to be huge in the US and that’s one of the many reasons we want Moshi to take off here.

“The window has been opened this year where it hasn’t been in recent years. Investors are understanding there’s a huge amount of value in tech businesses.”
