New project in the works at Maxis

Maxis, the studio behind the SimCity and Spore franchises, has a "triple-A simulation style game" in the works, according to recruiting.

The new game is mentioned in a job ad turned up by Superannuation.

The listing gives little else away besides a mention of PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 as well as PC.

Maxis's last effort was Darkspore, an action RPG built on previous title Spore, releases in April last year. The studio has been quiet in the interim, with an expected console port of Darkspore failing to surface.

Although the franchise is now in the hands of its own dedicated studio, The Sims was originally a Maxis product. The developer was co-founded by Will Wright, but the famed creative has since departed to form Stupid Fun Club.

Thanks, Blue.
