Rumour: Microsoft to keep redeemable codes following MS points phase out

Microsoft will keep the option of redeemable codes for Xbox 360 users for retail once Microsoft Points are set to be scrapped, a Eurogamer rumour has said.

It follows a report yesterday that said the currency system is said to be phased out by the end of the year, something which EG backs up.

Real-life currency, depending on region, will replace the points system.

App devs are currently being notified of the switch by MS according to the report, with one EG source citing it as a "profit driven decision."

Microsoft has denied to comment on the initial story.
