Star Trek Online to sport near-weekly updates from February

Cryptic has outlined its plans for 2012 content updates for Star Tek Online, which goes free to play next week.

In a new developer diary, executive producer Stephen D’Angelo said updates would start slow, with holodeck bug fixes and a few mysterious new features in preparation for the game's freemium conversion come January 17.

Celebrating the game's two year anniversary in February, Cryptic will introduce new Federation and Klingon flagships and the Dominion featured episode series, which will run into March with five instalments.

March will also bring the first Duty Officer system expansion plus new game features.

After that, things get a bit vague, but D'Angelo states his goal to "to have something new in the game nearly every week" from the anniversary celebration through the end of April.

Season 6 is expected in June, along with an overhaul to Foundry, PvP, and crafting and new features like a fleet advancement system.
