2012 Xbox Live Update public beta now available

Microsoft has announced Xbox Live subscribers can sign up to participate in the 2012 Xbox LIVE Update Public Beta, in which members will help "fine-tune" the early build of XBL.

According to the announcement, numbers are limited, and if you are selected as a tester, an update will be pushed to your console once the public beta kicks off.

The update will contain select dashboard features, including:

  • Internet Explorer for Xbox
  • Personalized dashboard recommendations
  • Enhanced category search and discovery features

A console signed up for the program is expected to "remain fully compatible with standard retail consoles not in the program."
