SSX allows users to remix own music collection in real time

The eclectic range of music in SSX, along with users own collections, will be remixed in response to in-game actions.

"That music is actually gonna evolve and trigger based off of different events that happen as the user goes down the mountain," music producer Freddy Ouano said in the latest dev diary for SSX.

He gave an example of an avalanche accompanied by a new musical cue, but the musical variation isn't limited to scripted changes - it actually reacts to how you play.

"So if you catch big air the music might pull out, if you grind the music's gonna stutter. When you're carving the music might pan left to right. If you have a big bail, the music's gonna react in real time based off the action that you're performing in real time."

The music in the game wanders across a variety of genres, even squeezing in some metal alongside dubstep, drum and bass, and more. Ouano name drops a couple of producers EA he worked with directly, producing exclusive, new mixes for the game, including Rafferty and Armin Tobin.

Music featured so far includes drum and bass act The Qemists and a remix of Run DMC's classic Tricky, but if that doesn't satisfy you, you can upload music from your console's hard drive, and make playlists for each of the game's modes, which will also be subject to real-time remixing.
