BioWare confirms co-op multiplayer for Mass Effect 3

BioWare has now officially confirmed that Mass Effect 3 will feature a multiplay component.

Speaking on Twitter, the studio said: "There will be a multiplayer component for #ME3. Full details soon, so wait until then before making your decision. We think you'll like it!"

BioWare producer Casey Hudson has confirmed at least part of the game's online play will be co-op:

"Yes, co-op MP missions for #ME3: they're real, and they're spectacular. Rest assured it's nothing of what you've feared. More soon..."

The news comes after two magazines today said that their next issues will contain details of the mode.

Both Australian magazine PC Power Play and OXM confirmed the news.

OXM said that first details, as well as interviews with Hudson and lead writer Mac Walters, will be featured in their October issue.

You can also expect the first multiplayer screens, as well as in-depth information about how it'll work with the game's single-player campaign.

"Finally, the real details on Mass Effect 3’s just-announced multiplayer mode are revealed in the December issue of Official Xbox Magazine, along with interviews with Mass Effect series exec producer Casey Hudson (@CaseyDHudson) and Mass Effect 3 lead writer Mac Walters (@macwalterslives)! The exclusive hands-on report also includes screenshots of the all-new mode, as well as in-depth info on how it will all work with Mass Effect 3’s beefy solo campaign. Time to put all those questions and rumors to rest!"

And that's that. No more rumours. Mass Effect 3 is getting a multiplayer mode.

The game's out in March next year for PS3, Xbox 360, and PC.
