Report - Need For Speed: The Run demo due October 18

Joystiq reports that a Need for Speed: The Run demo has been scheduled for release on console networks on October 18.
In the interim, EA has yanked the announcement, suggesting a change of plans may be on the cards.
The demo was reportedly to feature a desert race in a Lamborghini Gallardo LP 550-2 Valentino Balboni, and to support a "refer a friend" feature giving players access to a 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera S.
Need for Speed: The Run is due on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in mid-November.
