Final Fantasy XIV finally gets Chocobos

There was a lot wrong with Final Fantasy XIV at launch, but it's hard to believe that the game skipped over one of the series' most iconic pieces of imagery - the Chocobo. In the latest patch, players can finally ride the gigantic birds.

Patch 1.19 will change a lot of things relating to in-game travel but the core of the update comes with Chocobos. Players who are fully enlisted with a Grand Company will be able to purchase a personal Chocobo for 3000 company seals. That bird will then be theirs to use as they wish.

Players too early in the game to do that can merely rent a bird for 800 gil as long as they're at level 10. Airships, meanwhile, will allow players to fast-travel between the major cities of Final Fantasy XIV and open the game up more than before.

There's a full preview on the Final Fantasy XIV website and a video of Chocobos in action below. And, yes - that theme music is also in. Thanks, Massively.
