Gears of War 3 will not tie up every single loose end

Karen Traviss was given the somewhat unenviable task of writing the conclusion to the Gears of War trilogy - and she warns that, while the storyline is definitely finished, with a "definite answer", fans shouldn't expect all of the loose ends to be tied up.

Speaking with Eurogamer recently, Traviss explained that this was very much a deliberate choice. It was important for her to accept that - as in most things - she was never going to please all the people all the time, so she took a different approach.

"I come from a background where a series with things left unanswered is part of the joy of it. They may never be answered, I don't know. But you can't tie up everything. There are some things that we know but the characters don't know yet - and may never know."

Describing some story elements as "really mucky stuff", she says the Gears plot is far from being all black and white - which is a nice change for video game stories.
