Deep Silver: "Final version" of Dead Island to be released "during the day"

Various reports state that the PC version of Dead Island released today in the US is having a few issues, most notably on Steam, where apparently a dev build of the Xbox 360 version was released on the service by accident.

According to various sources, the code contained in the game's header information states the game is an "Xbox Live Submission Project Version," which would mean it's not the full version of the game, making it virtually unplayable through the service.

Techland got back with Eurogamer on the matter, and said it was "currently investigating this information."

"We'll do everything we can to make sure everyone can enjoy playing their copy of Dead Island," a spokesperson said. "Deep Silver is a part of every release process and any further updates will come from the game's publisher."

Meanwhile, Deep Silver has told RPS that "the final version will be out during the day."

As soon as it is, or when we know more, we will update this post.

Dead Island is also out in NA on PS3 and Xbox 360 today, with the game set for release in the UK at the end of the week.
