Star Wars Galaxies fansite hacked - 23,000 logins posted

Star Wars Galaxies fansite SWGalaxies.net is the latest game-related hack to see player identities compromised.

Venturebeat reports the site was hacked on Tuesday by ObSec.

The hacker group posted 21,000 email addressed and 23,000 passwords obtained in the attack on its site.

SWGalaxies.net isn't an amateur affair; it's part of the UGO network, 1UP's parent company, which was purchased by IGN earlier this year. Unfortunately, the passwords were reportedly stored in an unencrypted format, turning what might have been a small security breach into something of a nightmare for users who reuse passwords.

If you've ever been a member of the site, and reutilise passwords across multiple logins, it's probably best to reset your credentials elsewhere.

SWGalaxies.net is just the latest in a number of high-profile game-related hacks, including BioWare, Quakecon, and Codemasters websites.
