Rumour: Social games giant Zynga to acquire mobile dev Astro Ape

By Stace Harman, Wednesday, 17 August 2011 11:05 GMT

The Farmville and Mafia Wars Facebook behemoth looks to be in the process of snapping up mobile gaming studio Astro Ape, according to a report by Business Insider.

According to the report, employees of Astro Ape – the mobile gaming studio responsible for Dessert Heroes, Office Heroes and Vegas Strip City – have been changing their LinkedIn profiles to indicate that they are now employed by casual games overlord, Zynga.

It’s the latest in an acquisition spree by Zynga, who paid $53.3 million for Words with Friends creator New Toy and, at one stage, were in the running to acquire PopCap for a cool $1 billion cash, before EA swooped in.
