Neverwinter delayed in Cryptic's Atari exit

Cryptic's online co-op multiplayer take on the classic Dungeons & Dragons Neverwinter license has been pushed back into 2012.

Gamespot reports Cryptic's new owner, Perfect World, has delayed the game from its 2011 launch and is "investing in a more immersive experience".

The delay is hardly a surprise; Cryptic has been largely silent on the anticipated title since E3, and not hugely communicative beyond that.

Prior to Cryptic's sale, Neverwinter's future had been cast into doubt by a dispute between Atari and Hasbro over the digital rights to the Dungeons & Dragons franchise, although the two parties have now announced a settlement. After nearly two years of legal wrangling, it has been decided that Hasbro will retain the rights, but Atari will developer and publish select titles within the license.

Thanks, Massively.
