Freddy Krueger to be Mortal Kombat’s final DLC kombatant

By Brenna Hillier, Friday, 22 July 2011 01:08 GMT

Mortal Kombat just turned it up a notch by revealing its final DLC character as A Nightmare on Elm Street’s Freddy Krueger. This trailer is a ball buster.

Skarlet, Kenshi and Rain were shown alongside a final, unrevealed character, and speculation has ranged across the entire Mortal Kombat canon as well as stopping by several Xbox 360 exclusives, but persistant whispers of a movie monster clearly won out.

Freddy’s claws, link to hell and relationship with fire are simple horror techniques but even against the freak show that is Mortal Kombat’s cast he looks terrifying. Sold!

Gamefront reports Krueger will be unleashed in August, and will cost $5 for those without a season pass.

Enjoy the unrestrainedly brutal trailer below.
