First Voltron: Defender of the Universe details

Details of the Voltron: Defender of the Universe game have turned up ahead of its debut at the San Diego Comic Con.

According to IGN, the game will release on October 25 for the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live for $10.

Developed by Behaviour Interactive, the studio behind Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime, it's an action-adventure game with two player local and five-player online co-op.

The franchise began life as the anime Beast King GoLion before being remixed, heavily edited for violence, and entirely re-written as a mid-80's cartoon in order to sell toys. Nicktoons has just launched a re-imagining of the original series called Voltron Force.

The game is said to contain clips from the cartoon, although it's not clear if this refers to the current series or the original one, as suggested by the trailer below.

This batch of intel marks the first real reveal of the game since a report outed the project in February.
