The Mercenaries 3D save files cannot be erased

Here's one for the "excuse me, WTF" files: you can not delete your Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D save files. Ever.

A Neogaf user posted a snap of the game's manual confirming the, uh, "feature".

Bad news for perfectionists - and for those who like to trade in used games, since anybody who purchases a used copy won't be able to start a fresh save.

According to Esuteru (as translated by Tiny Cartridge) Japanese retailers are giving only a very small amount of credit on trade-ins, the equivalent of about $6.

Is this Capcom's latest ammunition in the anti-trading war? Or some sort of bizarre technical failing? We'll poke Capcom.

Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D releases in the US on June 28, Australia on June 30, and Europe on July 1. Japan has had it since early June.

Thanks, Joystiq.
