Super Meat Boy once included World of Goo, Bit.Trip characters

Team Meat has posted an interesting belated developer diary for Super Meat Boy, covering cut characters and content.

In a post on the Team Meat blog, several cut characters were outed: Teal Ogmo from Jumper 3; Mondo Preist from the Mondo series; Knytt; Golden Knight from Bonesaw; and the girl from World of Goo.

Team Meat also tried but failed to attach Quote from Cave Story and Lemeza From La Mulana, cancelled the Wii-exclusive Beat from Bit.Trip:, and "forgot" about Fancy Pants.

One of the most unusual snippets isn't a cut, but an addition. Team Meat planned to include just 15 levels and 16 bandages in each chapter, but tripled plans when the game started to come together.

Other interesting design decisions include the removal of animations when moving between levels, which were cut to minimise wait times.

There's a number of images and descriptions of levels that were altered during development, as well as some eye-opening early designs of a very different Meat Boy. Hit the link above for all the details.
