Black Bean Games has confirmed WRC 2, the official videogame of the 2011 FIA World Rally Championship, is set for release in October 2011.

The sequel is in development with Milestone and will be published on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360, and will include all rallies of the 2011 World Rally Championship calendar with all the leading WRC team and drivers.

It will also feature “significantly more content than its predecessor,” with 90 stages, 15 locations, 25 terrain and weather conditions and nine car categories. Cars in the game will be from the 1960s all the way up to current WRC models. Modes in the game include Championship, a 16-player online mode, a revamped Career Mode and various other improvements over the last outing.

“The 2010 WRC game put our sport back on the gaming map – and with WRC 2 we look to take this further,” said North One Sport CEO Simon Long. “More realism, more detail and more variety is what we have seen in the studio so far this year. The new game is rich in WRC history, but also gives a glimpse of the future.

“With MINI taking on the established Citroën and Ford teams and the impending return of Volkswagen, the WRC is heading for a golden era and we want to take our WRC gamers on that journey too.”
