No FFXV for Vita or 3DS, says Kitase

Final Fantasy XIII-2 producer Yoshinori Kitase has said that Final Fantasy XV won't primarily be a handheld title.

Kitase said that fan demand of high-line graphics makes it a no brainer for HD consoles such as PS3 or 360, so don't go looking for it on Vita or 3DS.

"If you're talking about the main Final Fantasy titles, one of the strong focuses of the series is cutting edge graphics. That's what people enjoy and that's what people associate Final Fantasy with," he told Eurogamer.

"In that sense I would like to assure our users of this top quality artistic visual achievement. To do that we have to stick with high definition consoles."

Kitase added that it would still concentrate on developing FF spin-off series' on handhelds, such as Dissidia.

Final Fantasy XIII-2, the next main core entry in the series, launches early 2012 for PS3 and 360.
