Duke Nukem Forever demo nearly upon us

The moment of truth is nearly here, Duke Nukem Forever doubters. The King's return is set in stone, but after more than a decade of waiting, you could be forgiven for needing to play it to believe it. Fortunately, your chance to frivolously squander gum and begin the ass-kicking cycle anew could come as early as next week.

Duke Nukem Forever First Access members (us included) have started receiving emails asking about current platform ownership in preparation for the release of a Duke Nukem Forever demo.

It asks that pertinent information be confirmed by Sunday May 15, which would seem to suggest that something Duke this way comes. Gearbox, meanwhile, told Kotaku that it "will be making an official date announcement soon."

So then, get excited or nervous or meditate under a waterfall or whatever it is you do before something monumental. Millions of dollars, thousands of man hours, decades of false-starts - you'll get to relentlessly judge it all over the course of about 20 minutes. So, you know, no pressure.
