Mortal Kombat: Legacy hits 5.5 million views

Live action web show Mortal Kombat: Legacy is going down a treat, racking up 5.5 million views in its first seven days.

Industry Gamers reports the first episode of the series was one of YouTube's most-viewed videos last week.

Legacy is a ten-episode series commissioned by Warner Bros. to promote this week's launch of the Mortal Kombat reboot. It stars Jeri Ryan, better known as Star Trek: Voyager's jumpsuit-clad Seven of Nine, Darren Shahlavi as Kano and Michael Jai White as Jax.

Scorpion, Liu Kang, and Johnny Cage will also make appearances.

Director Kevin Tancharoen came to the publisher's attention after unintentionally releasing the short Mortal Kombat: Rebirth to YouTube, where it garnered well over 3 million views across various mirrors.

Mortal Kombat releases today in the US and on Aprile 21 elsewhere, for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
