Japan favours Pokémon Black, the US prefers Pokémon White

Sales figures for the latest instalments in Nintendo's long-running franchise suggest Japan and the US like different flavoured Pokémon.

Just last week it was revealed that the US had a penchant for Pokémon White, with 1.3m units sold in March compared to 1.1m for Pokémon Black.

Japan's 2010 sales figures, now released by Media Create, have shown that Pokémon Black has edged ahead of its White counterpart, selling 2.6m units to 2.3m.

In previous Pokémon instalments the difference between colour versions has come down to the critters available in each game. The latest White and Black entries went further, to include a unique area for each game: 'White Forest' and 'Black City'.

Pokémon White and Black are available now for DS.
