Minecraft title update 1.5, is getting weather effects, and to show how it looks in the game, a video has been released.

Over on Youtube where the video was posted, Notch notes that “rain and especially thunder is waaay too common in this test,” but you can still see how the temperature fluctuations transform water from rain to snow as well as accumulation and the affect the water has on the environment in its various forms.

Update 1.5, which also supports in-game stats and achievements, is slated for next week, according to Notch: “Once the stats are done and the weather has been tested through, we’ll release 1.5. I’m guessing this will be next week. The piston mod might get added, but it will not be in time for 1.5.” (Thanks, Prof.Dr.Moertel)
