Rumour: Steam's Potato Sack bundle contains a Valve AR puzzle

Here's one to take with ladles of salt. Gamers have discovered a number of unusual features in Steam's Potato Sack indie bundle, and theorise that Valve may be teasing a major reveal. Or having a great big April Fool's laugh, of course.

A Wiki has been started to collect evidence of a possible AR game played out through tiny clues in titles found in the bundle.

Players noted many of the Potato Sack bundle's games received simultaneous updates, each signing off with the message "Happy #PotatoFoolsDay!"

Some of the affected games seem to now sport strange symbols, as well as files and text possibly referencing other games included in the bundle.

Slim pickings perhaps, but Valve's first screenshot of Portal 2 was revealed through an AR game following a mysterious update to the original game.

Current theories as to these enigmatic happenings include a continuation of the afore-mentioned Portal 2 game; a Half-Life 3 announcement; or as the update hashtags suggest, a joke to keep conspiracy theorists busy for a few days.

The Potato Sack bundle gathered 13 indie titles at 75 percent off, awards players a potato hat for Team Fortress 2, and allows gifting of double-purchased titles. See the details here.
