Suda51: "It's not just me who's crazy"

Speaking of the bizarre and grotesque design elements of Shadows of the Damned, Goichi Suda said he's not solely responsible.

"It's not just me who's crazy," Suda protested, speaking to Destructoid.

"Our staff members are crazy too.

"For example, art director Masumo - he's crazy also. So he comes up with all sorts of crazy ideas.

"And also we have concept artists from Poland... We have a lot of staff members who love punk style, and they want to create a punk rock style game."

Suda said the the game's design "employed the style of Eastern European punk" and was inspired by his observation that "you don't see too many [games set] in Hell".

Shadows of the Damned is a multiplatform collaboration between Suda's Grasshopper and Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami, to be published by EA. Nathan had a look at it at GDC.
