Gas Powered Games shoulders Age of Empires Online development

Gas Powered Games has taken over development on Age of Empires Online, in place of Robot Entertainment.

The change of dev teams was announced on the game's official blog by executive producer Danan Davis.

"We’ve been working with Gas Powered Games for some time now on a collection of great new content packs," Davis wrote.

"In that time, it’s become really clear Chris Taylor and his team share our passion to make this one of the best games in Age of Empires franchise history."

Robot, the traditional Age of Empires developer, has just announced its own project, Orcs Must Die. According to the studio's message board, "this was always the plan".

Gas Powered Games, creator of the Dungeon Siege franchise, recently put its original IP Kings and Castles on hold.

Still no release date for Age of Empires Online, but beta signups continue.
