MTV Games closed down

MCV reports that Rock Band publisher MTV Games has officially shut up shop.

The company's international office closed doors on Wednesday, temporarily retaining a few staff to settle any outstanding business.

The closure follows on from the sale of Harmonix, now an independent studio. MTV Games parent company Viacom are reported to have sold the Rock Band developer for $50 to its own staff.

In the meantime, Joystiq reports that Viacom and Harmonix are locked in legal battle over allegedly unpaid performance-based bonuses due to the latter, further adding to Viacom's woes.
