Steam version of Dead Space 2 refuses to "activate"

It looks as though Steam gamers are being denied access to the now-released Dead Space 2.

Reports over on Valve's forums suggest that users who've purchased the high-rated horror are unable to play the game after downloading it.

Serial keys provided by EA don't activate when entered. It's unknown at this point of time whether this is due to invalid serials or a server issue.

A Valve employee has acknowledged the issue and said they have contacted EA to find a resolution:

We've contacted EA about this, so hopefully it will get resolved soon.

Dead Space 2 released today to glowing reviews.
