IGN has posted, what we think, is the first online review of Dead Space 2, and the site said the game sets a “new gold standard” in horror. It was handed a solid 9 out of a possible score of 10 as well.

Here’s an excerpt from the review:

Dead Space 2 is an amazing game. I’m going to write about its scary moments, cool kills, and how much I dig the main character’s internal struggle, but Dead Space 2 is about more than this. When I beat it for the first time, I sat on the couch with my heart racing and dissected the journey I had just taken. Then, I started my second playthrough, and when that was done, I jumped into a new game for the third time. Dead Space 2 is just that good.

Good to know. We’re really excited for it.

We’ll throw a reviews round-up together for you when more opinions are released.

The game is out on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 on January 25, and you can even get some Dragon Age 2 bonus content with it.

VG247’s Australian news editor Brenna Hillier had a nice chat with Dead Space 2’s producer Shereif Fattouh in Sydney today. You can check it out here, as well as the swag video featuring her lovely voice here.
