Analyst: Nintendo must drop Wii price point

20110119wii

Responding to the recently released 2010 NPD sales figures, an analyst has concluded the Wii must take a pice cut if Nintendo is to sustain business.

Arcadia Investments managing director John Taylor told the LA Times that the Wii "looks increasingly like a gift purchase business".

"They will have to have a price cut in order to sustain it during non-gift-giving seasons," he said.

Taylor's comments follow on from games industry analyst Michael Pachter's own predictions that consoles will drop in price this year, beginning with the PlayStation 3.
