Guinness World Records and Sony are teaming up to celebrate the release of Guinness World Records 2011 Gamer's Edition, by hosting three-days of LittleBigPlanet 2 record breaking at the Sony Style store's PlayStation Lounge in New York City.

During the event, folks will be attempting to "make history: by setting records in the following categories:

  • Longest Marathon Playing LittleBigPlanet 2
  • Longest Marathon Playing A Platform Video Game
  • Most Video Game Genres Played In One Video Game 24 Hours
  • Most User-Generated Video Game Levels Played In 24 Hours
  • Most User Generated Video Game Levels Played In A Marathon

Sackboy graces the cover of this year's Gamer's Edition book, and marathon records also play a big part in the book with records for the Longest Video Games Marathon on a First Person Shooter (33 hours), Longest Video Games Marathon Playing a Racing Game (30 hours) and Longest Video Games Marathon on a Dance/Rhythm Game (13 hr 33 min 56 sec).

This is the fourth and latest edition of the Guinness series and 90 percent of it is new or updated records.

The book is available January 20th for $14.99.

LittleBigPlanet 2 is out on January 18 in the US and January 21 in the UK, and will contain sponsored content from Toyota.
