News on fan-made "Sonic 2 HD" coming soon

Plugging what will seemingly be an eternal yearning in fans' hearts to have plain old Sonic remade with pretty visuals, a fan team has promised to deliver news on Sonic 2 HD soon.
There's a teaser site here, with a clock pointing to January 15.
Sonic appears to be on something of a roll at the moment unofficial and otherwise.
The blue mascot's 20 years old in 2011, and Sega's promised to mark the occasion with "projects". No one knows what they're going to be as yet.
And all this on the back of Sonic Colors at the end of last year, which was honoured with properly high scores at review.
He'll never die. We'll let you know what Sonic 2 HD looks like as soon as we see it.
