EA: The Old Republic is "a 10 year opportunity"

theoldrepublic9

EA CFO Eric Brown has said the publisher sees Star Wars: The Old Republic with at least a decade-long lifespan.

"Our assumptions for break-even and profitability are not seven digit subscribers. We think we can run and operate a very successful and profitable MMO at different levels," said Brown, speaking at the UBS Annual Media and Communications Conference in New York.

"The key thing here is to really perfect the product. We're shooting for an extremely high quality game experience. We view this as a 10 year opportunity."

The BioWare MMO, announced in 2008, was confirmed for an estimated spring 2011 release in March of this year, but won't be inside EA's FY 2012.
