Lewie’s Weekly Deals – Splinter Cell: Conviction, Mafia II, Alan Wake for £10

By LewieP, Monday, 22 November 2010 09:32 GMT

I’m afraid my weekly pick of gaming deals is going to be overshadowed by deals that aren’t even available yet.

Through a combination of intrepid investigation and reading press releases, I’ve deduced that at some point over the next week Amazon are probably going to be selling the Black Nintendo Wii bundle (with Wii Sports Resort and a Wii Motion Plus) for under £72, and the 250Gb Xbox 360 for under £80.

I’ve got a guide to the first day of the Amazon UK Black Friday sale already posted here, and keep your eyes glued to SavyGamer.co.uk for guides for each day.

But I’m not going to let Amazon completely steal my thunder. Check after the break for a bunch of great deals that are available this very second. It’s going to be legen, wait for it…

Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, Xbox 360/PS3 – £14.99 delivered

…dary. This Schizophrenic Spider-Man adventure has taken a while to drop in price. That’s what happens when you combine decent reviews with a license as popular as Peter Parker’s alter ego. I’m still yet to be convinced that removing the free roaming web swinging from a Spider-Man game is anything but madness, but I’m also yet to play this one, so what do I know?

 RUSE, Xbox 360/PS3 – £17.99 delivered

The PS3 version supports both waggle and shake motions via the Playstation Move Controller (sold separately), whereas Xbox players have to settle for buttons and sticks like controller wielding cavemen.

The PC version (which registers on Steam) is the same price too, but has been for quite a while now, whereas the console versions are discounted for today only. Review round up here.

Splinter Cell: Conviction, Xbox 360 – £6.70 delivered

This is ex-rental, but the last game I got from these guys was in pristine condition. I thought that this was utter garbage, as my rather nasty review here shows, but lots of people seem to like it.

At this price it’s probably worth finding out for yourself what you think of this streamlined and casual friendly butchering of take on Splinter Cell. Looking back, I’m going to totally stand by my criticism, and I’m actually somewhat surprised by the generally favourable reviews it got.

Clearly the rest of the world is insane and only I know the truth. I suppose I never did try the co-op, and I’ve since heard that’s the best bit.

400 free MS points when you spend 1,600 on MGS stuff

Full details are in the link above, but here’s the skiny: Spend 1,600 points on assorted Microsoft Game Studios things from the Xbox Marketplace by the end of the day, and you’ll get 400 points back.

Qualifying stuff with my seal of approval are: Splosion Man, Defense Grid, Ikaruga, Braid, Rez HD, The Dishwasher & N+. You have til 5am Tuesday, UK time. Instructions here. If you need to top up on points for this deal, I can vouch for these guys as being both cheap and fast.

Deal of the week: Mafia II [Collector’s Edition], Xbox 360 – £17.85 delivered

If you’ve been waiting for a price drop on the Xbox 360 version of Mafia 2, not only is this the cheapest it’s been available for, it’s also the rather swish Collectors Edition.

It comes in a steelbook case, and includes: soundtrack CD, Made Man DLC, 100 page hardback artbook and a big map. Most intriguingly, the map is “tear resistant”, which sounds like a challenge to me.

Take a peek at a lovely picture of all the bonus stuff here, and check out the review round up here. I don’t expect this to stay in stock for long at that price.

Also of note: Alan Wake, Xbox 360 – £9.99 delivered (or collect in store)

Sega Visual Memory Unit, Dreamcast – £3.58 delivered

X3 [Gold Edition], PC – £3.91

Blockbuster 2 for £30 selection, Xbox 360/PS3 Includes: Red Dead Redemption, Final Fantasy XIII, God of War III, Modern Warfare 2, Call of Duty: World at War, Singularity and lots more.

Remember to keep your eye on SavyGamer.co.uk for gaming discounts throughout the week, and you can hassle me on Twitter if there’s ever a specific game you’re after for cheap.
