Battlefield Play4Free revealed - first trailer inside

battlefield p4f

Yeah. That new Battlefield game mentioned earlier this week? This is it.

EA's revealed Battlefield Play4Free, a brand new title in the series for PC that will allow you to, well, play for free.

Micro-transactions will pay for it.

The title is "a deep PC shooter featuring signature Battlefield vehicular warfare, sandbox gameplay and intense 32-player online battles."

The website and trailer, which is below, have gone live. Sign-ups for its closed beta, which kicks off at the end of the month, is under way.

The last P4F Battlefield title was Battlefield Heroes in 2009.

"We broke new ground in 2009 with the launch of Battlefield Heroes; a game that has 6M registered players worldwide. Now we are complementing that arcade shooter with a core, realistic Battlefield shooter experience that fans have been clamouring for," said senior producer, James Salt.

"Battlefield Play4Free is for serious shooter fans who are looking for a premium — but free — experience that rivals top console titles."

BF: P4F will be a unique combo of Battlefield 2 and Bad Company 2, with the "most popular maps" of BF2 and "the familiar classes and powerful weapons" of BFBC2.

The game will also link together between itself, Heroes and the upcoming Battlefield 3

It goes live in spring 2011.
