Vatra releases a Silent Hill 8 developer video

Silent Hill 8 producers Devin Shatsky and Tomm Hulett took to the game's Facebook page to chat a bit about what to expect from the title via a developer interview.

You can watch it here on Facebook or below.

During E3, Konami announced Silent Hill 8 was in the works and slated for release in 2011 on PS3 and 360 from developer Vatra, and that was about it.

Even the video in the link above doesn't tell us much in the way of content, but it does at least give us some idea of what the development team plan to do with it.

According to Hulett, Silent Hill 8 may look a bit different than other entries in the series he is making sure the title stays "true to the themes and the spirit" of the series. It is also important, he said "to come up with new stuff, but make sure it fits within the old framework and doesn't contradict anything".

In Silent Hill 8, an escaped convict named Murphy Pendleton is stranded in the creepy town after the prison vehicle he is being carried in wrecks.

Upon escaping the overturned transporter, Pendleton will come into contact with "horrific creatures" and other terrors lurking around town. He doesn't have a gun or anything, so he must make use of everyday objects to defend himself.

In addition to the main storyline, players will participate in side quests that can change depending on play style, and encounter some puzzles along the way as well.

No specific date just yet, but it's coming.
