Capcom's just announced it's shipped 2 million units of Dead Rising 2 worldwide.

Furthermore, the series as a whole has shipped at the 4 million mark, according to the publisher.

Capcom also confirmed the acquisition of DR2 developer Blue Castle Games, announced at TGS, has been ratified by the Canadian authorities. The studio will now be known as Capcom Game Studio Vancouver.

Dead Rising 2 launched at the end of September for PS3, 360 and PC worldwide. A prologue, Case Zero, released back in August before the full game's release for Xbox 360 via XBLA.

A epilogue, Case West, will also be released for 360, although no date has been given.

The new title will see DR2 hero Chuck Green team up with the protagonist of the original, Frank West.

The sales masked a touch of bad news for Capcom this morning, though: profits were down 40 percent for the six months ending September 30, 2010.
