Koei Tecmo's formally announced Dynasty Warriors 7 in Japan this morning.

The game was previously teased at Sony's TGS press conference.

In a press conference this morning, which was streamed over the internet, the publisher announced three new characters for the sequel: Sima Shi, Sima Zhao and Bao Sanniang.

As well as its campaign, DW7 will also feature known as Chronicle Mode. According to Siliconera, it's a mode which "uses stages players completed in other modes."

TK's also promised seamless transition between cut-scenes and gameplay in its story-mode.

Dynasty Warriors 7 will be out in Japan in March 2011 for PS3, and will also support 3D.
