SCEA on Gran Turismo 5 delay: "We thought we had a good date"

SCEA producer Taku Imasaki has told NYT the decision to delay GT5 was taken as recently as Tuesday.

Speaking in an interview published yesterday as news of the delay got out, Imasaki revealed Sony's discontent over the delay.

"We’re really close, but this was an executive decision that was made yesterday," he said.

"Realistically, we thought we had a good date. We’re not happy over here."

Imasaki also reiterated Sony "is shooting for it to be out by the holidays. You won’t see too much more delay."

The racer received a worldwide delay in Japan, US and Europe, with SCEE saying a new date will be announced by the "end of the month."

GT boss Kazunori Yamauchi apologised personally for the delay on Twitter, saying Polyphony were "ironing the kinks out."
