Tecmo Koei's announced Ninja Gaiden 3 at a behind-closed-doors event in Tokyo.

Team Ninja will once again handle dev duties on this, the first title in the series since series creator Tomonobu Itagaki left the company.

Not much was revealed as to what to expect from the sequel, but it's thought we're going to see a "more human side" to main character Ryu.

According to Videogamer, we're also going to see a more violent Ryu as well, with a "decent into a hellish realm".

No date or platforms were announced by TK.

The last Ninja Gaiden, Ninja Gaiden II, was released in June 2008 for Xbox 360, before getting a later release on PS3.
