Dissidia: Final Fantasy sequel announced in Japan

Hear that? That's the starting gun for pre-TGS going off. Square Enix just fired the first shot.

A sequel to Dissidia: Final Fantasy has been announced in Japan's Shonen Jump magazine for PSP.

According to Andriasang, known as Dissidia Duodecim Final Fantasy,  the game will release next year and will now feature Lightning from Final Fantasy XIII and Kain from Final Fantasy IV in the roster.

Other then that, not much else is known, although Square's Tetsuya Nomura said an unmentioned new game from Square will be at TGS next week in playable form.

This is all but likely to be it.

Nomura had previously teased a Dissidia sequel, saying in March the following:

"A Dissidia Final Fantasy sequel — we’ll work at it!"

The original Dissidia released back in Japan at the end of 2008 for PSP, before getting a European release last September.
