Respawn title "starting at absolute zero," says DeMartini

Ziltch. Zero. 0. Get that?

EA Partners boss David DeMartini has told EG that Respawn Entertainment's first title, to be published by his firm, is starting from "zero".

DeMartini added that when he signed the upstart, formed by ex-Infinity Ward bosses Jason West and Vince Zampella earlier this year, it had nothing: no workplace, no furniture, no basic admin, no HR, nada.

"I know everybody is going to say, 'Well what are they working on?' The thing everybody needs to remember is they were starting at absolute zero," he said.

"This is two guys who really know what they're doing having to go find a place for the team, buy chairs and desks and furniture, find new technology from the ground up, and pull a team together. I need to get HR people.

"There are contracts. There are all kinds of things and administration that need to take place. Amongst all that administration they've pulled together the core of a fantastic team and they're starting to work on a whole bunch of ideas to try and find what is going to be the one right idea for us."

DeMartini had previously said the game is a lot further out then Insomniac's project with EA Partners, and hinted last night that we'd see that sooner.

DeMartini has said of the Respawn title, though, that he is "highly, highly confident" of what the studio will first produce.
