Capcom's Keiji Inafune has told Eurogamer it's aiming for Dead Rising to replace Resident Evil as king of IPs at the firm.

"The goal for Dead Rising 2 is to replace the Resident Evil franchise and become number one IP within Capcom," Inafune told the site.

It was revealed by the exec earlier this morning we'll hear the first info on Resident Evil 6 "shortly".

Inafune also said if sales were good on Dead Rising 2, Dead Rising 3 will be made.

"Until Dead Rising 2 sells we probably can't start talking about spin-offs," he said.

"If it's received pretty well, yes we would consider a sequel. But at the moment we just don't know."

Dead Rising 2 releases on September 24 in the UK on PS3, 360 and PC, with prequel Case Zero now available as an Xbox Live Arcade exclusive.
